KEYSHAWN DAVIS WINS BY DECISION OVER NAHIR ALBRIGHT

By Steven Cummings

Keyshawn Davis improved to 15-0 (10 KOs) with a wide decision win over Nahir Albright (17-3-1, 7 KOs) on Saturday night in Norfolk, VA.  It was a rematch of a 2023 decision victory for Davis that was changed to a No Decision because of a positive test result for marijuana.

Davis clearly won the majority of the rounds but it wasn’t an enjoyable fight to watch. The styles didn’t mesh together and would-be exchanges very quickly became clinches. Albright landed one big overhand right in the middle rounds but wasn’t able to do much else.

Davis missed weight by a small amount and then made weight right at the 140-lb limit. Maybe that’s important and maybe it’s not. There’s always a lot going on with Keyshawn Davis and you either like his act or you don’t.

This was the first Top Rank show on DAZN and it wasn’t exactly a dazzling card. Brian Norman Jr. got back in the win column with a quick TKO2 over Josh Wagner, which was the expected result. Davis’ wide points win over Albright didn’t hold much more drama. It’s good to have Top Rank on the platform if you’re already paying for DAZN, which is quite painful at this point, but one would hope they would provide better matchups than this.

KEYSHAWN DAVIS STOPS BERINCHYK FOR WBO LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

Keyshawn Davis lifted the WBO lightweight title from Denis Berinchyk with a commanding fourth-round stoppage on Friday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. Davis (13-0 9 KOs) floored Berinchyk (19-1, 9 KOs) in the third round with a left hook to the body. The end came at 1:45 of the fourth after Davis buried two more body shots.

Junior middleweight Xander Zayas improved to 21-0 (19 KOs) with a TKO9 over Slawa Spomer (20-1, 11 KOs). Official time of the stoppage was 2:01.

Abdullah Mason (17-0, 15 KOs) used heavy hands to stop Manuel Jaimes (16-3-1, 11 KOs) at 1:55 of the fourth round. James was down a total of four times.

Keyshawn Davis’ brother Keon Davis (2-1, 1 KO) dominated Ira Johnson (3-3, 2 KOs) for a second round stoppage.

Jared “Big Baby” Anderson (18-1, 15 KOs) got back in the win column with a unanimous decision over Marios Kolias (12-4-1, 10 KOs). Over the course of the 10 rounds, Anderson wasn’t dominant but did enough to win by scores of 99-91, 99-91 and 98-92.

Juan Guerra Jr. (6-1-1, 2 KOs) won a split decision over Nico Ali Walsh (11-2, 5 KOs) in a six-rounder. Scores were 58-56, 58-56 and 56-58.

BERINCHYK – DAVIS WEIGHTS

WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchuk and challenger Keyshawn Davis both made weight for Friday night’s title match at Madison Square Garden.

Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) won the vacant title in May of last year with a split decision victory over Emanuel Navarrette. Davis (12-0, 8 KOs), a 2020 Olympic silver medalist, last fought in November, stopping Gustavo Daniel Lemos in two rounds.
